Jeff was born and raised in Canton, Ohio. For high school, he attended the prestigious Phillips Exeter Academy on a full scholarship, and later received another scholarship to attend Yale University, where he majored in East Asian Studies/Chinese. While at Yale, he spent his junior year studying in Beijing and Taipei, which led him to several more years living in Taiwan after college. Upon moving to Taiwan, he quickly established himself as an actor and TV/radio host, mainly in Mandarin. Over the course of his successful career in Asia, he appeared in numerous dramas and comedies and hosted several programs (including the Chinese version of Fear Factor) which have been broadcast in Chinese communities around the world. Studied at Second City Toronto before moving to Los Angeles, where he went on to graduate from the conservatory at Second City Hollywood. He is also an alum of iO West and performs improv and sketch regularly around Los Angeles. Played George W. Bush in two separate political satire TV shows in Taiwan. In Mimics (which won a Golden Bell for Best Variety Show), the character's name was "Lil' Bush", while on The Political Satire Show, his character was affectionately known as "Little Bullshit". In 2002, he was originally scheduled to take China Air Flight 611 to Hong Kong as he headed to Beijing to promote his new book, but changed last minute to an earlier flight. CA FL 611 tragically disintegrated in the air 20 minutes after takeoff, killing all 225 people on board.
